Csurgai + Stringovics loudspeakers

Csurgai + Stringovics loudspeakers

The need to acoustically conquer space has led me to design and build loudspeakers. Although loudspeakers differ in function from bows, both of these instruments function based on vibrations – and on the physical theory of vibration absorption. I have been designing electro acoustic equipment since 2000 with the cooperation of electric engineer Gyula Stringovics. The C+S experimental shop has been founded with the purpose of building unique loudspeakers and amplifiers with artistic precision. I have developed new technologies and materials for specially structured building using special gluing technique. The aim was to create an ideal interior acoustical space based on the exterior form of the loudspeakers. The applied composite materials and the new structure building technology allows the parts to remain vibration-free, and to be free of secondary vibrations as well. The result is a sound formation of stage quality combined with uniquely designed external shell.

Lichtrequisit 2011

Lichtrequisit 2011

The Lichtrequisit was given as an award in 2011 at the HG.hu Design Awards. The piece is a unique artwork specifically created for this occasion. The design is based on the interaction of various ideas and symbolizes the diversity of contemporary Hungarian design, its history and the present. The icosahedron is a universal symbol of Hungarian design and it's name was inspired by Moholy-Nagy. Lichtrequisit 2011 can be cut into five identical slices to represent each category winners. The five parts of the icosahedron represent the following design elements and categories: the first slice stands for Shape - Fashion category; the second slice stands for Colour - Graphic Design category; third slice represents Volume - Product Design category; the fourth slice is Space - Architecture category; the fifth slice represents Ether - Interactive Product category. The award's initial concept and design was delivered by the creative team of Lead82 with project leader Peter Salát Zalán graphic designer. The creation and delivery of the artwork was prepared by Ferenc Csurgai with the supportive help of Mihaly Budai.

Bows

Bows

My career as a designer began with the design of bows in 1985. I have designed and created horsebows, so called Hungarian bows, long bows, dismountable long bows and hunter reflex bows. I have combined the traditional construction style from the time of the migration period with the modern technology from the end of the 20th century. In the process of construction noble wood, glass and carbon fibres were used for optimal construction. The new materials and the up-to-date technology allowed the creation of a new and experimental design. Besides the perfect functioning, the form, the aesthetic appearance, the proportions and the symmetries are all important factors and improved to perfection. Every single bow I have designed and made is unique, customized and completely handmade. In 2001 I was awarded the Design Award for this product.
